THE STANDARDS
CONNOR’S KOLSCH: An authentic German-style golden ale. Lower mash and fermentation temperatures , a percentage of wheat malt in the grain bill and German Hallertau hops all contribute to the refreshing flavor of this light beer. 22 IBUs. 4.8% abv.
DOGTAIL IPA: Brewed with all the TLC a hop-head has to offer, this bold ale tantalizes the taste buds of the serious hop lover with its pronounced bitterness and citrusy finish. Generous amounts of Centennial hops added at the end of the kettle boil and dry-hopped in the serving tank contribute a fresh, crisp hop flavor and aroma. 69 IBUs. 6.0% abv.
KENNEL KING IMPERIAL IPA: A beer fit for anyone with a palate daring enough to give it a try. Hops, hops and more hops. Loads of Simcoe, Cluster, and Amarillo are added during the kettle boil and even more of the same are dry hopped in the serving tank. If you are into hops, then this is a must-try! 103 IBUs. 8.1% abv.
OLD BOYS’ BROWN ALE: Medium in body and unique in its flavor complexity. We use a combination caramel, victory, and chocolate malts to give this tasty brew a toasted, nutty flavor. 24.64 IBUs. 4.8% abv.
THE SEASONAL/SPECIALTIES
ANNIVERSARY PALE ALE: This American Pale Ale was brewed to commemorate both OBB’s and the Michigan Brewers Guild’s 15-year anniversary. Made with Michigan-grown wheat malt and German Vienna malt in the mash and Falconer’s Flight hops, both in the boil and in the fermenter as a dry hop.41 IBUs, 5.0% abv.
IRASCIBLE: A barrel-aged American Wild Ale. We aged our Brown Ale for three months in a “soured” bourbon barrel and added Michigan raspberry juice to the mix, which complements the tart flavors from the microbiota, as well as the oak and bourbon hints.28.5 IBU’s 5.5% abv.
BARREL-AGED WINTER BEER: Our 2012 Snowball’s Chance Ale aged in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel. The overall profile has changed over time and the spicy, malt and dark fruit flavors of the original beer have blended with the woody flavors from barrel to produce a beer with a sweet wine-like quality. 34 IBUS, 6.2% abv.
BAD RAP APPLE ALE: An amber-colored specialty ale with fresh Vandermill apple cider added to the fermenter. A complex fruity profile with a suble spiciness from the fermentation complements biscuit and malt flavors . 7.7% abv, 21 IBUs.
NUTSACK CHOCOLATE/PEANUT STOUT: A redesigned chocolate stout recipe brewed with British chocolate and Belgian caramel and biscuit malts in the mash, along with unsweetened chocolate and lactose sugar added to the boil. Then cocoa nibs and fresh-roasted peanuts were steeped in the finished beer to produce a rich, full chocolate-covered peanut character. Contains peanuts and lactose sugar. 6.4% abv, 23 IBUs.
KISS MY HAGGIS SCOTCH ALE: Back by popular demand, our wee heavy is a thick, rich beer perfect for the winter months. Malt and caramel flavors dominate but are tempered by a hint of smoke and a pleasant, warming alcoholic finish. 34.2 IBUS, 8.3% abv.
IMPERIAL OATMEAL STOUT: A black, full-bodied tour de force of flavor here, with coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit prevailing. And don’t forget a significant alcohol presence. This beer has a rich, silky mouthfeel, but with a surprisingly dry finish. Did I mention it has lots of alcohol? A substantial bitterness provided by English First Gold hops help keep the balanced and in check. Psst…alcohol!J 60 IBUs, 9.7% abv.
SHUT-UP JASON IMPERIAL BROWN ALE: A liquid tribute to tenacity in all its finer forms, Shut-Up Jason features carabrown and rye malt in the mash with German Traditional and New Zealand Wakatu Hops in the boil. The result is a nutty, malty beer with notes of spice, citrus, and raisin. 35 IBU’s 7.5 % abv.
MAGNUM BREAKFAST STOUT: Robust and full-bodied like a good cup of joe, the Magnum Breakfast Stout was brewed using a blend of Sumatran and other Indonesian coffees, freshly roasted at the Magnum Coffee Roastery in Nunica. Bristish chocolate malt in the mash and vanilla beans steeped in the beer post-fermentation provide balance to the rich coffee flavors. Contains caffeine and lactose sugar. 35 IBUs, 6.0% abv.
